Sprint goes after iPhone customers

Posted in News by hulahoop on June 26, 2009 No Comments yet

Sprint has a new ad directed straight at iPhone customers. The Ad talks about why the Pre is better than the iPhone and goes into some detail about it.

Your iPhone contract is up. Perfect timing.
The Palm Pre does things the iPhone can’t. Run multiple applications at the same time with real-time updates and even save $1200 over two years. It’s the perfect time to join the Now Network America’s most dependable 3G network, bringing up the first and only wireless 4G network from a national carrier.

Hey it works for me and I bet it gets a few of AT&T’s customers away from the iPhone and onto a Pre.

Have a touchstone? Well iphone has one now too… Sort of.

Posted in News by hulahoop on June 24, 2009 No Comments yet

So you have a pre and a touchstone and love showing them off to your friends with iPhones. Finally something that makes you stand out from all the iclones. Well… That was short lived. Apparently an accessary maker for iPhone thought pretty highly of it too and has created a device that works similar. WildCharge is bringing a similar wireless charging technology to Apple’s own handset. Starting today, iPhone (3G and 3GS included) and iPod touch users can order up a WildCharge Skin along with a WildCharger Pad in order to bring wire-free charging to their smartphone. Just slap the skin on, plug the pad in and toss the handset down on the pad and presto wireless charging . The price… $34.99 for the skin, or $79.99 for the skin and pad. Not entirely revolutionary but you knew it would happen soon enough. This is just another proof positive that the Pre is setting new standards.

Go time! Palm and Sprint increase advertising for Pre

Posted in News by hulahoop on June 23, 2009 No Comments yet

I was watching television last night and couldn’t help notice the Palm Pre commercials. This comes a day after I complained about the lack of advertising for the Pre. I guess Palm and Sprint wanted to wait and see how the iPhone did over the weekend before they started pumping out their money on advertising. It seems to me that the two companies have realized that if they want to compete then they need to get the word out and what better way than the old boob tube. These are not brand new commercials and they have been running them for the past couple weeks but the amount of airtime they have been getting in the last 24 hours of this posting has increased twofold. If you haven’t seen them yet then take a look below.

The competition for touch screen smart phones just got stiffer. T-mobile announced a new Google Android phone today called myTouch thus making the field of legit contenders up to 7. Lets see what we have. Palm Pre, Blackberry Bold, Nokia N97, Apple iPhone 3G and 3G S, T-mobile G1 and now the T-mobile myTouch. This is great news for the consumer out there that doesn’t have a smart phone yet because more choices means more competition and lower prices. The myTouch sports the Google Android OS, a 3.2 megapixel camera that shoots video, a large 3.2-inch touch screen with a resolution of 320 x480 pixels and no physical keyboard. The phone offers network support for 3G and Wi-Fi, and comes with 512 Megabytes of internal memory and supports microSD for external storage. The device will ship with a 4GB microSD card, but customers can add more storage if they’d like.
